Payment
We highly recommend the use of international credit card via PayPal offline payment (for both international and domestic customers), or Alipay or China UnionPay online payment (payment in RMB for domestic customers) because it greatly simplifies the process for both the customer and for us. The PayPal offline payment process is in English. Alipay and China UnionPay online payment are in Chinese.
1. PayPal Offline: This is the only method of payment for international customers (customers who are paying in anything other than RMB). It is also a convenient method of payment for domestic customers who are not able to use Alipay or China UnionPay online payment. The billing address can be in any country, but at this time the mailing address must be in China, Hong Kong, Macau, Taiwan, Singapore, Australia, the United States or the United Kingdom.
When you chose this method of payment on the payment page, your order will be sent to a customer service representative who will send you an email with an invoice and information on how to pay using PayPal. It is not necessary for you to have a PayPal account to use this method. You will receive a confirmation email from customer service after your payment is received In most cases, your order will be mailed out the same day payment is received.
Your credit card will be charged the equivalent in RMB of the currency you have chosen. Please note that your particular credit card may charge an extra fee or percentage for orders placed in a currency other than your home currency. The PayPal fee will be absorbed by Good News in China (Baojiayin), and you will not be charged an extra fee by our company.

2. Alipay: Alipay, founded by the Alibaba group, is one of the leading online payment service providers in China. It offers an independent third-party payment platform that is committed to provide "simple, safe and fast" online payment solutions for online purchases within China. Customers need to have an authenticated "Alipay" account in order to pay using this method. For details, please see the "Alipay" site at https://www.alipay.com/ (in Chinese).
3. China UnionPay online payment: By agreement with ICBC (Industrial and Commercial Bank of China), CMB (China Merchant's Bank), CBC (Construction Bank of China), ABC (Agricultural Bank of China), CMSZ (Minsheng Bank) and other Chinese financial institutions, online payment can be done using the credit/debit cards of 19 national banks in China. To pay using a credit/debit card, customers will need a "China UnionPay" credit/debit card that has been registered for online banking. (This registration can be done in the corresponding bank branch office.)
In addition to the three payment methods above, domestic customers may also pay in the following ways:
4. Payment in advance/prepayment: If you're regular domestic customer (i.e. you live in China) of GNIC, we recommend this payment method for real convenience. (This is especially good if you don't want to set up Alipay or online banking, you want to avoid multiple trips to the bank or you cannot use an international credit card.) Just follow these simple steps:
- 1. Use bank wire transfer, Alipay or any other method to pre-pay a certain amount of money to GNIC (Baojiain). (Click here to view the account information)
- 2. Notify GNIC about your payment. (Click here to view our contact information)
- 3. After payment has been received, GNIC will deposit the money directly into your GNIC account.
- 4. Every time you place an order, select "payment in advance" - and you're done! (You can check your balance on the "shopping cart" page and at "My Account".)
(Note: Customer advance payment accounts on www.baojiayin.com and www.goodnewsinchina.com are separate accounts. If you shop on both websites, you may want to make pre-payment to both accounts.)
5. Cash on delivery (COD): This method of payment can be used by customers in Beijing, Tianjin (April 24, 2012 update: service to TJ temporarily unavailable. We expect it to resume shortly.) and Shanghai. To ensure fast and safe delivery, please leave accurate contact information (i.e. an accurate telephone number (cell number preferred) of someone who can speak Chinese, address, email address, etc.) so that we can confirm your order if necessary and the delivery person can call with any questions. If at all possible, please give us your contact information in Chinese and provide the number of a Chinese speaker.
