Frequently Asked Questions
1. How do I pay at a Chinese bank for my order?
Write down (or cut and paste) the bank information for the bank (where you would like to make payment) from the “Payment” information page at the bottom of our homepage. Take it with you and show it to the bank teller when you give them the amount shown on your invoice. The bank will notify us that a payment in that amount has been made. Please contact us by email, text or phone to tell us your name, what bank you used to make your payment, and the amount you transferred.
2. Why do I need to contact you after I have paid at the bank?
Many companies, especially small ones, use a personal account because some Chinese banks do not allow individuals to deposit to a company account and/or they charge extra to the customer for an individual deposit. With a personal account, however, the bank only tells us the amount of money that was deposited, not the invoice number or who paid. When you give us your name, the amount paid and the bank name where you paid, it enables customer service to match the payment with your order. Your order will be shipped the same day we are notified of your payment.
3. Can I backorder products?
At this time our system is set up so that backorders are not permitted. Because of the different way that inventories are managed in China, we cannot guarantee product availability unless the item is in our warehouse. Suppliers often go out of stock without notice, and this leads to disappointment on the part of customers who have paid for an item that may not be available for a long time—or may never again be available!
If you wish to order a higher number of items than we currently have in stock, please contact our customer service to find out if the items can be ordered for you.
4. How long will it take for me to receive my order?
Domestic orders: Orders within Beijing are often delivered within 24 hours, almost always within 48 hours. Occasionally, due to circumstances beyond our control (problems with the express delivery companies especially prior to and during Spring Festival), orders can take 3 or 4 days.
Orders outside Beijing that are delivered by private delivery company usually come within a week. Orders delivered to a post office can take up to two weeks.
International orders: The time will depend on the cost of your order, your location and the kind of delivery you desire. Those in Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan should receive their orders within one week. Those in Singapore, Australia, the U.K. and U.S. can choose “slow boat” (approximately two months), two weeks (for orders under the equivalent of 100 RMB), or three to four days (DHL Express).
5. How can I speak with someone in English about my order?
If you have questions about order, please email sales@goodnewsinchina.com or call (010) 6371-1564.
6. I am looking for a particular book in Chinese but cannot seem to find it on your site. I know it has been translated into Chinese in Hong Kong or Taiwan…why can’t I find it here?
All books legally printed in China must have a Chinese ISBN number. In other countries this number is simply an identification number, but in China it means that the book has permission to be printed in cooperation with a state-owned publishing company and may legally be sold in China. The process to obtain an ISBN number is lengthy and complicated, and the content is regulated.
In some cases, rights to the simplified version are held by a publisher outside China (usually in Taiwan or Hong Kong). If the company that holds these rights has not yet attempted to or has not been able to get an ISBN number in China, you will not find that book (legally) for sale here.
In addition, print runs (especially of faith-related books) in China tend to be much smaller than in other countries, so it is not at all uncommon for a book to go “out of print”. Occasionally we are able to buy up existing copies of a book that is no longer available from the publisher, but after we run out we will not have any more. Until the publisher chooses to reprint, the book will be unavailable.
Our desire is to carry all legal simplified Chinese books that fall into the category of "mainstream Christianity", books that we believe would benefit Chinese readers. We are not a publisher and do not print books…we just make them “widely known and easily available” :)!
7. How can I get a fapiao for my order?
If you require an official fapiao (different from the normal invoice that will be included with your order) for Chinese tax purposes, please make a note of it in the message box when you place your order. Remember to include the title of the company in Chinese.
8. What do you do with my personal information? Who has access to this information? Will it be sold?
Only employees at Baojiayin who are involved in processing your order will have access to your information. We do not sell or give this information to anyone else.
